Icons: Dolce & Gabbana 1990-2010

2DM was mentioned in Dolce & Gabbana’s lavish new monograph: 1990-2010. We received a couple of the massive, hardbound and fabric covered (and tastefully gold-accented) editions in the studio earlier this week.

The work, which is a panoramic view of their seminal men’s fashion work over the past two decades, is full of quotes from the indefatigable duo, sketches of the pieces that would eventually become “icons,” and hundreds of photographs (mostly black and white) from the industry’s very best photographers including our very own Roger Deckker.

2DM / Hero 5 & Simon Nessman

We previously shared Bruna Kazinoti and Ana Murillas’ fantastic editorial on Malthé Madsen for the most recent issue of eye-candy-fest Hero.

Now that we’ve finally gotten our hands on the entire issue, we’re glad to share quite a bit more about the issue, including more excellent work from the 2DM universe. This month marks the start of a new section in the magazine, billed REFS – a reference of contemporary fashion. It’s to be a digest of the best models, photographers, stylists and hottest brands.

For the new section, Vicky Trombetta shot Kieran Martin in Christopher Shannon and styled by John Colver. Céline Marioni styled Amuary Baudoin in for photographer Antoine Seiter. And in case you hadn’t gotten enough Bruna Kazinoti last time around, she also shot Jack Manhood in Versace and styled by Harry Lambert.

This month’s cover features curly-haired god Simon Nessman, and inside you’ll find an 18 page feature on the Canadian model extraordinaire by Fabien Kruszelnicki and styled by Stevie Westgarth.

Hero’s hot, as usual.

Karin Kellner / Rolling Stone

.

Karin Kellner / Rolling Stone

We’ve been seeing a lot of 2DM’s Karin Kellner on the presses lately. And in addition to her excellent magazine work, she even brought our Opus Creative collaboration with boutique brand Neroli Cashmere to life. The German-born illustrator, known for her evocative watercolours and ethereal environments, worked her magic this month across the pages of Rolling Stone Italia.

Her works for the issue include three for the Rock & Roll style section in an article called “The Thieves of Wall Street,” as well as the key illustration for a hilarious piece by Gianni Vattimo entitled “The Liver’s Mail.” Finally, she made a lively portrait of economist Oscar Giannino which accopanies his informative editorial “Euro che va, neuro che viene.”

This month’s issue of Rolling Stone, features a bird-flipping Dave Grohl on the cover and an interview with the Foo Fighters frontman entitled “Kurt Was My Friend.” It’s an excellent read. The issue also features interviews with Ben Harper, Ricky Gervais, articles on Johnny Depp and Thin Lizzy, a look at Fondation Cartier exhibition on voodoo objects billed “Vaudou Child,” and an excellent mix of news, happenings and opinion. It even, unfortunately, features an article with photo of a barrel-chested Snooki.

Excellent work, Karin!

Bruna Kazinoti & Ana Murillas / Malthe for Hero

We’re enjoying lots of new magazines this week! Issue 5 of Hero, the young UK zine packed to the brim with gorgeous guys. The art direction is excellent, as always – bold, brash and British – and new issue are always a treat, as they come out only twice a year.

2DM’s photographer Bruna Kazinoti, whose bad boy editorials are a fixture in Hero, shot this feature on model Malthe Lund Madsen from Ford, together with rockstar stylist Ana Murillas. And the two make quite the team!

We’ll let the photos speak for themselves. The mix-up, forward fashion comes courtesy Givenchy, Dries Van Noten, Yamamoto, YSL, Paris Vintage, Dior Homme, Raf Simons and others. Hooray for Hero!

Elena Xausa / 2DM For Salone Del Mobile & Ottagono

2DM’s Über-creative illustrator Elena Xausa’s got her hands full this design week. Her large-scale works are on display for Gas as part of Fuorisalone, and she’s participating in events all around Milan. The newest issue of Ottagono – freshly on newsstands (we picked up our copy yesterday at the fair) – features an illustration by her, surrounding an intriguing story about the famous Unité d’Habitation building in Marseille.

And as a rad bonus, 2DM teamed up with her for a nifty limited edition canvas bag that the coolest people will be toting this week. S for Salone, flanked by an impressive array of designer chairs. Get yours while it’s hot!

Tung Walsh / Hercules & Arena Homme +

Tung Walsh / Hercules & Arena Homme +

2DM’s rising star photographer Tung Walsh paid us a much welcome visit this morning while in Milan on for a top-secret shoot. (It’s going to be good, kids!) Meanwhile, we got to enjoy his newest published works in Hercules and Arena Homme +.

First up for Hercules, the most “Mediterranean” of men’s fashion mags, he captured interior design magnate David Collins

Next up for Arena Homme +, Tung went way outside the box. For this very lucky Year of the Rabbit, Tung made a series of brilliant portraits / self-portraits with his family in Kuala Lampur – notably his grandfather and son Angus. And the family is looking particularly fashionable, dressed in everything from Versace, Dior Homme, Ricardo Tisci, Vivienne Westwood, to Ray Ban and Palladium. Oh, Malaysia!

Until next time, Tung!

Ana Murillas / The Seventh Seal

Ana Murillas / The Seventh Seal

The second issue of Spanish culture biannual Tiger Magazine is on newsstands. The jumbo journal’s sophomore foray – The Cinema Issue – is even better than its first time out, with interviews with the likes of Olly Alexander, an excellent piece on Diane Pernet, and work by photographers Rankin, Jonathan Hallam, Miguel Villalobos and JM Ferrater. But mostly we love this issue because you can see the work of 2DM’s super stylist Ana Murillas en grande. She did the fashion for an editorial with photographer Richard Jensen based on Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 film The Seventh Seal. With its rocky seaside backdrop and early morning light, Ana and Richard do a fantastic job of bringing the solemn, spiritual mood of the film into fashion.

As a bonus, catch the fun illustration of Ana at the opening of the issue.
